Funding objective
The Free State of Bavaria supports the implementation of new support and housing models for elderly people to enable them to live a self-determined life at home or in a domestic environment. Funding is provided for senior-friendly neighborhood concepts, community-based neighborhood assistance, housing advisory centers, community-oriented housing models, as well as other innovative outpatient concepts for a self-determined life in old age.

Funding requirements

Description
Since 2024, an attractive program is available in Bavaria that enables municipalities, public institutions, interest groups, and associations to implement innovative approaches for self-determined living in old age. As start-up funding in the form of a grant with a funding amount between 10,000 and 80,000 euros and a funding rate of up to 90%, senior-friendly neighborhood concepts, neighborhood assistance supported by civic engagement, housing advisory centers, community-oriented housing forms, as well as other innovative outpatient model projects are supported. Eligible expenses include personnel costs, material costs, fees for coordination staff, expenses for public relations, and senior-friendly equipment for communal rooms. The maximum project duration is two years; for neighborhood concepts, up to four years are possible, opening new perspectives for an age-appropriate environment.
A detailed concept with a clear description of objectives and purpose, information on structure and organization, qualifications and staffing, forms of civic participation, as well as statements on sustainability and development prospects is required. Endorsement by the responsible municipality must be provided in the form of a resolution or cooperation agreement. Applications must be submitted to the Bavarian State Ministry for Family, Labour and Social Affairs by 31 March, 30 June, 30 September, or 31 December prior to the start of the measure. Selection is based on the degree of innovation, the extent of civic engagement, municipal support, and long-term development opportunities. This funding enables committed initiators to sustainably improve the quality of life of older people and strengthen communal living and support structures in Bavaria.
