Funding/Support of the Foundation's Purpose – Trust Foundation "Preserving the Historical Heritage of Monument-Protected Cemetery Culture"

The trust foundation “Preserving the Historical Cemetery Culture under Monument Protection in Osnabrück” supports projects in Lower Saxony that promote the preservation of the listed sites at the Hase Cemetery and the Johannis Cemetery. Non-profit organizations, public institutions, and private individuals may apply for grants on an ongoing basis, provided their projects align with the foundation’s statutes and they possess a public-law or tax-privileged legal status. The focus lies on professional restorations of gravestones, walls, and pathways, as well as the ecological maintenance of the historic green spaces. Additionally, the foundation supports educational and cultural offerings that strengthen civic participation and deepen awareness of urban history, environmental, and climate protection. Projects are evaluated based on conservation quality, ecological sustainability, and community involvement.

Eligible expenses include restoration work, pathway repairs, ecological maintenance, as well as public relations and educational measures in public spaces. The program targets committed citizens, associations, and institutions aiming to advance the long-term safeguarding and meaningful reuse of the cemeteries. Applications may be submitted at any time; continuous funding allocation ensures timely project implementation. The foundation acts as trustee of the Osnabrück Citizens’ Foundation to minimize administrative effort and to deploy donations and endowments efficiently for sustainable maintenance and restoration measures. By combining conservation standards, ecological responsibility, and civic engagement, the program makes a significant contribution to a vibrant culture of remembrance and nature conservation in Osnabrück.
