Funding for Local TV Distribution Costs

The Saxon State Media Authority supports private regional and local television broadcasters in ensuring comprehensive coverage of the Saxon population with high-quality television programs. Through a continuously open application budget, a grant is provided to cover technical feed and distribution costs. Funding is provided for distribution channels via DVB-T and successor technologies, satellite, cable systems, as well as other platforms. The goal is to offer local and regional contributions in the fields of education, local history, culture, politics, religion, social affairs, sports, tradition, economy, and science in excellent quality and diversity, thereby reflecting the diversity of opinions in the respective coverage area. Prerequisites include valid licensing by the State Media Authority and the official commissioning of the program according to statutory criteria.

This funding offer is aimed at companies with officially commissioned programs that meet the Saxon licensing requirements. Applicants must demonstrate that the program includes local and regional contributions and adequately represents relevant social groups. In the allocation of funds, the targeted comprehensive distribution and program quality play a central role. A special crisis mode enables full cost coverage of distribution in exceptional situations. Through this funding, the financial barriers for licensed broadcasters are lowered, allowing a diverse, regionally anchored television offering to be maintained and further developed throughout Saxony.
