Promotion of Waste Management Planning, Measures, and Awareness Raising

The promotion of waste management planning, measures, and awareness-raising in Vorarlberg supports public-law institutions and companies in implementing innovative projects in the fields of environmental and nature conservation as well as energy efficiency and climate protection. Continuous funding opportunities are available as direct grant support from January 1, 2025, to realize projects in waste disposal, waste prevention, and waste-related public relations. Funding is provided to municipal associations, municipalities, and legal entities operating statewide to fulfill waste management tasks, as well as to commercial enterprises primarily acting on behalf of municipalities and associations. This targeted funding supports investments and activities that directly contribute to reducing waste volume and strengthen public awareness of sustainable waste management.

The funding objective is to implement the principles and goals anchored in the Vorarlberg Waste Management Act. Project ideas are sought that effectively advance waste prevention and recycling and enable broad sensitization to waste management issues. A prerequisite for funding is a project application detailing the subject, objectives, duration, and financial plan, ideally submitted before the start of the measure. The granting of funding is subject to available funds and does not establish a legal claim. Furthermore, the state funds used must be applied according to the principles of economy, efficiency, and appropriateness and must be consistent with the designation of the relevant budget item. These measures contribute to establishing innovative approaches in waste management in Vorarlberg and achieving sustainable effects in the long term.
