Description
The state funding of North Rhine-Westphalia supports companies, municipal authorities, as well as non-profit organizations and private individuals in the construction of technical systems for the utilization of industrial waste heat for climate-friendly building supply. Eligible applicants include, among others, condominium owners' associations, civil law partnerships, sole proprietors, and public law corporations. Funding is provided for brand-new systems for the generation of heat or cold from technical processes, structural facilities, or supply and disposal lines. A prerequisite is an energy efficiency improvement of at least 10% compared to the current state in existing buildings or compared to the nearly zero-energy building requirements in new constructions. The grant is provided as a non-repayable subsidy with a funding rate of up to 25% of the investment costs – up to a maximum of 100,000 euros per system. Application documents such as project description, cost estimate, detailed system description, and entrepreneur’s or treasurer’s declaration must be submitted electronically via the NRW funding portal. Contracts may only be awarded after approval and must be granted to qualified specialist companies. Used or self-constructed systems as well as measures started before receipt of the funding approval are not eligible for funding.
Applications can be submitted within the framework of available budget funds until June 30, 2027. Eligible expenses for investment and installation costs include new acquisitions, planning and consulting, as well as construction and installation. Building and usage rights, evidence for economic feasibility, and permits should be submitted with the application. Upon successful project implementation, a proof of use must be provided, which, in addition to the factual report, includes the income-expenditure statement and the overview of receipts. The Arnsberg District Government reviews the appropriate use of funds and reserves the right to conduct random checks. The aim of the funding is to sustainably increase energy efficiency in North Rhine-Westphalia while simultaneously contributing to climate protection. Interested companies and institutions are encouraged to submit applications early to best meet the requirements for funding.
