Description

The German Foundation for Women’s and Gender Research supports non-profit organizations, educational institutions, and public bodies nationwide in the conception and implementation of exhibitions as well as accompanying framework programs in the field of women’s and gender research. The aim of the material and immaterial funding is to make research-relevant questions regarding gender roles, feminist perspectives, and historical as well as current developments visible and accessible to a broad audience. In particular, innovative exhibition concepts that are complemented by lectures, workshops, or discussion formats receive grants, as do the production of catalogs or publications, to ensure impact beyond the exhibition period.

Eligible expenses include costs for materials and production of exhibits, fees for curatorial and organizational services, as well as printing and publication costs. Investments in structural infrastructure or retrospective expenses are not eligible for funding. A detailed project description is required, in which the exhibition concept and framework program are coherently presented and the foundation’s purpose is clearly pursued. Selection is based on alignment with the foundation’s mission, the degree of innovation, and the sustainability of the project. Applicants must submit, in addition to the detailed project description, a budget and financing plan as well as the CVs of the project leaders. Submissions are accepted year-round, providing temporal flexibility for projects of all sizes. This funding offer is primarily aimed at cultural and scientific institutions as well as non-profit organizations seeking to realize a nuanced engagement with gender research in exhibitions.
