Funding for work-related travel expenses

The funding of work-related travel expenses by the State of Carinthia is aimed at employees, apprentices, and evening school students with their main residence in Carinthia and sustainably supports professional mobility. As a direct subsidy, 50% to 100% of the documented expenses for public transportation, private trips, and toll costs are covered. The scope of funding varies depending on income, distance, and the mode of transport used: for public transport tickets, an annual ticket or up to twelve monthly tickets can be submitted; for private trips, distance-based flat rates are granted. The goal is to relieve participants in their professional daily routine and to promote climate-friendly transport alternatives.

Applications can be submitted continuously and must be filed by no later than October 31 of the following year. Funding requirements include main residence in Carinthia, at least four commuting days per week, and compliance with specified income limits. The following documents are required for application submission: annual wage statement or income tax assessment, registration certificate, original receipts for travel expenses (e.g., monthly/annual tickets, toll receipts), proof of special conditions (disability pass, large commuter allowance), as well as payment confirmations for toll cards. Payments are made as direct transfers to the applicant’s bank account. Through this measure, the State of Carinthia makes a significant contribution to easing the burden on commuters, strengthening regional employment, and reducing CO₂ emissions in the transport sector.
