Description
The nationwide funding program supports companies in the freight transport sector that wish to qualify their trainees as professional drivers. The goal is to counteract the ongoing shortage of skilled workers in companies operating heavy commercial vehicles in the long term. Eligible are all companies that transport goods according to the Freight Transport Act and, as of the reference date, are owners or holders of heavy commercial vehicles with a technically permissible maximum mass of more than 3.5 tons (from 30.06.2024: at least 7.5 tons). Legal entities under public law as well as in-house operations with majority public ownership are excluded. A training relationship may only begin after the approval of the application, and parallel funding from other public sources is not permitted.
For training relationships lasting up to 36 months, a flat rate of up to EUR 50,000 per training position is recognized. The funding rate ranges between 50% and 70% of the eligible costs depending on the company size. Small companies receive 70%, medium-sized 60%, and larger applicants 50%. Applications must be submitted by August 31 of the year in which the training is to begin. The eService portal of the Federal Office for Logistics and Mobility (BALM) is available for application submission. This funding enables sustainable investments in the professional future of drivers and makes a decisive contribution to strengthening the mobility infrastructure in Germany.
