Description

In the thematic area of Agriculture & Rural Development, the state initiative Bio-Model Regions in Baden-Württemberg promotes the regional marketing of organic food and strengthens networking within the agricultural sector. With a grant covering up to 75% of eligible personnel costs as well as fixed-amount funding for material costs, it supports the development and implementation of innovative regional concepts. A professionally organized regional management connects representatives from agriculture, processing companies, trade, gastronomy, and consumers to establish short supply chains and sustainably promote organic farming. The goal is to enhance biodiversity, expand regional economic strength, and create new income models for farms committed to organic cultivation.

Eligible for funding are legally capable associations of regions and municipalities as well as actors in the regional agricultural sector such as producer groups, cooperatives, industry associations, clubs, and public institutions. A prerequisite for funding is a cooperation agreement defining a lead partner, the involvement of small economic participants, and horizontal and vertical networking along the supply chain. Selection takes place through a competition by an independent panel; only nominated Bio-Model Regions may submit an application before the start of the measure. Additionally, the regional management office must be located within the selected area. With a funding rate of up to 75% and financing of personnel and material costs, the program makes a decisive contribution to building sustainable value-added structures and strengthening organic farming in Baden-Württemberg.
