Description

The program “Promotion of Democracy, Tolerance, and Openness to the World” of the Thuringian Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports supports non-profit organizations, interest groups, other associations, educational institutions, and public bodies based or operating in Thuringia. The goal is to promote projects that strengthen democratic awareness, deepen tolerance, and firmly anchor openness to the world in society over the long term. Funded activities include, for example, workshops, educational events, and cultural actions aimed at young people, people with a migration background, and the general public. Applications can be submitted continuously, offering flexible entry opportunities for providers of extracurricular youth services, schools, foundations, and civil society initiatives.

Funding is provided in the form of grants. Eligible expenses include personnel costs, material and supply costs, fees, travel and accommodation expenses, as well as rental costs for premises. The acquisition of real estate, retroactive costs, and administrative expenses without direct project relevance are excluded. Key evaluation criteria are the degree of innovation, practical relevance with target group involvement, as well as the sustainability and impact of the measures. A prerequisite for funding is proof of non-profit status and the submission of a detailed project description, a financing and schedule plan, proof of association or foundation status, proof of own contribution, and proof of non-profit status. The funding covers thematic priorities in the areas of commitment to social cohesion/democracy, education, culture, labor & social affairs, as well as vocational training and invites creative approaches to effectively strengthen democratic action in Thuringia.
