Promotion of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energies in Buildings through Individual Measures

The nationwide grant program of the Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control (BAFA) supports individual measures to increase energy efficiency and the use of renewable energies in existing buildings. Investments such as thermal insulation, window replacement, renewal of heating systems, or installation of solar systems are funded. The goal is a sustainable reduction of energy consumption and CO₂ emissions in residential and non-residential buildings. Private individuals, condominium owners, landlords, companies, and municipal institutions can submit applications continuously and benefit from attractive grant rates to modernize their buildings in an environmentally friendly manner.

A prerequisite for funding is proof of ownership of an existing building in need of renovation in Germany, as well as confirmation by independent specialist companies. Eligible expenses are exclusively the investment costs of the requested measures. Retrospective costs incurred before the application submission, as well as planning and consulting costs, are not reimbursable. For the application, the official application form, cost estimates from the executing specialist companies, and proof of ownership must be submitted. With its continuously open application period, the program offers flexibility in planning and implementing energy-efficient renovations and makes an important contribution to German climate protection in the building sector.
