Description

The support of producer organizations for fruit and vegetables in Brandenburg specifically strengthens associations of fruit and vegetable producers that promote sustainable and market-oriented production. With financial grants covering up to 50% of eligible expenses, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, Environment and Consumer Protection (MLEUV) supports the establishment and implementation of approved operational programs over a period of 36 to 60 months. The objective is to increase competitiveness in national and EU markets, stabilize producers' incomes, continue environmental and climate protection measures, and optimize the quality and marketing of products. Eligible activities range from production planning, quality improvement, and marketing campaigns to research and training, as well as crisis prevention and resource-conserving environmental measures. The funding is aligned with the “National Strategy for Sustainable Operational Programs” and takes into account both innovation and climate protection aspects.

Recognized producer organizations or – in the case of cross-border programs – associations of producer organizations with a sufficient number of members, a defined minimum quantity of marketed production, and a statutory operational fund are eligible for funding. A prerequisite is an approved operational program with a duration of three to five years, as well as transparent financial accounting of all income and expenses. Annual applications are submitted continuously to the State Office for Rural Development, Agriculture and Land Consolidation (LELF) in Teltow/Ruhlsdorf. The maximum aid corresponds to 4.6% of the value of marketed production, but not exceeding the actual contributions made by the members or the organization. Evaluation criteria include, among others, alignment with national strategies, contribution to market adjustment, level of innovation, and sustainability impact. This funding measure makes an important contribution to the future-proof development of the regional fruit and vegetable sector in Brandenburg.
