Description
Promotion of Building-Integrated Photovoltaics in North Rhine-Westphalia
The state of North Rhine-Westphalia supports the functional integration of photovoltaic modules into the building envelope with an attractive grant. The aim of the funding is to mitigate the additional costs compared to conventional rooftop PV systems and thereby significantly advance renewable electricity generation on facades. Applicants from municipalities, districts, public institutions, private households, companies, as well as educational institutions and associations can apply for financial support of up to €350 per kWp, with a maximum of €50,000 per building. A prerequisite is that the location is in North Rhine-Westphalia and that all building regulations and, if applicable, monument protection requirements are met.
In addition to the photovoltaic modules, planning and installation costs are also funded to ensure efficient project implementation. Selection is based on the functional integration into the facade, the availability of necessary permits, and alignment with the state's climate protection goals. Companies of all sizes, private individuals, and public institutions equally benefit from the transparent funding structure. A resumption of the application process will be announced in due course – interested project sponsors should familiarize themselves with the requirements now and have the necessary documents ready.
