Funding of Research, Development, and Innovation

The state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania promotes innovative research, development, and digitization projects in business, science, and non-profit institutions with funds from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). Funding is provided for individual and collaborative projects in the areas of research & innovation, digitization, as well as consulting and financing services. The objective of the measure is the development of internationally competitive products, processes, and services based on current scientific and technological knowledge. Eligible to apply are companies of all sizes with a place of business or branch in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, as well as universities and non-profit research institutions whose projects contribute to the creation or securing of sustainable jobs. Funding is granted as a non-repayable grant, with a minimum funding amount of €15,000.

A prerequisite for funding is predominantly regional project implementation and proof of secured own financing. Priority must be given to the nationwide Central Innovation Programme for SMEs (ZIM); up to two projects can benefit during the ERDF period 2021–2027. The funding rate varies between 25% and 100% depending on the project scope and company size. Evaluation criteria particularly include the level of innovation, economic exploitability, and contribution to job security. Applications can be submitted continuously and must be received by Technologie-Beratungs-Institut GmbH no later than 14 days before the project start. Required documents include a project outline (for collaborative projects), application form, and proof of use.
