Description

The Free State of Saxony supports the implementation of various voluntary services such as the Voluntary Social Year (FSJ), the Voluntary Ecological Year (FÖJ), the Voluntary Service for All Generations (FdaG), the Volunteer Services Office, as well as the “Sachsen-Sommer” program through a grant program. The aim is to strengthen civic engagement and promote young people in social and ecological fields of activity. Eligible for funding are public institutions, interest groups, registered associations, and other legal entities that comply with the provisions of the Youth Voluntary Service Act (JFDG) and the Saxon quality standards. The program covers personnel and material costs as well as expenses for educational support and is situated within the thematic areas of education & training, social affairs, and work & social affairs. The funding rate ranges from 90% to 100% of eligible expenses, depending on the measure.

Applications are to be submitted to the Municipal Social Association of Saxony. Deadlines depend on the respective measure: FSJ by March 31, FÖJ by February 15, FdaG by September 30, Volunteer Services Office by October 31, and Sachsen-Sommer no later than two months before the desired approval start date. The grant is awarded as a subsidy and is reduced accordingly in case of concurrent federal funding. A prerequisite for approval is compliance with the requirements set out in the JFDG as well as the standards for voluntary services in the Free State of Saxony. The funding provides approved providers with a reliable financial basis to implement voluntary services with high quality and thus sustainably strengthen community-oriented engagement in Saxony.
