The goal is to directly optimize the accommodation of free-living, abandoned, surrendered, or lost found animals, relinquished animals, as well as confiscated animals in non-profit animal shelters or similar facilities in the state of Brandenburg.

Description
Funding Initiative for Non-Profit Animal Shelters in Brandenburg
The guideline for the funding of non-profit animal shelters or similar facilities in the state of Brandenburg (Animal Shelter Funding Guideline) supports non-profit animal protection organizations in the construction, expansion, and equipping of their accommodations. Eligible applicants are registered associations, foundations, as well as non-profit GmbHs and AGs with a valid permit according to § 11 para. 1 no. 3 TierSchG or a positive endorsement from the competent Veterinary and Food Control Office. Funded measures include construction work such as new buildings, extensions and conversions, acquisition of buildings, as well as the procurement of equipment (e.g., kennels, cages, veterinary treatment and quarantine rooms). The grant covers up to 75% of eligible costs, with a maximum of €50,000 per year. The objective is the direct optimization of the accommodation of free-living, abandoned, left-behind, and confiscated animals as well as found and surrendered animals in non-profit institutions.
Application and Deadlines
Applications can be submitted continuously from April 30, 2026, to December 31, 2028, to the Investment Bank of the State of Brandenburg (ILB). Prerequisites include proof of property rights (land register excerpt), compliance with building regulations (building permit or self-declaration), secured overall project financing, and waiver of premature project commencement until the application date. Only investment costs are eligible for funding; ongoing maintenance, personnel and training costs, as well as non-animal protection-related expenses are excluded. The application must include a project description with a cost plan, proof of permit, financing and building law approval, as well as a current land register excerpt.
