Funding objective
Aid for the improvement of living and economic conditions in rural areas through environmentally sensitive development of settlement, commercial, recreational, and cultural areas. Funding is provided for investments and expenses related to the construction, conversion, and maintenance of paths in accordance with the guidelines of the Vorarlberg state government for promoting investments in the traffic development of rural areas (Goods Road Guidelines).

Funding requirements
- Applicants for funding can be natural persons, associations of persons (in particular based on the Goods and Ropeway Land Act, State Road Act, or Land Constitution Act), as well as other legal entities, municipalities, or municipal associations.
- Compliance with the requirements of nature and landscape protection and water management; near-natural and resource-conserving construction methods as well as the general rules of technology and guidelines for road construction (RVS) must be observed.
- Construction of paths is only permitted on the condition that the applicant makes the path available within the framework of a route concept for mountain biking.

Description
Since January 1, 2019, the "Promotion of Investments for the Traffic Development of Rural Areas" in Vorarlberg has been permanently supporting committed applicants such as private individuals, interest groups, companies, and public institutions in the environmentally friendly connection of settlement, economic, recreational, and cultural areas. Through the grant-specific form of direct subsidies, sustainable improvements in the living and economic conditions in rural areas are achieved. The measures are aligned with the requirements of nature and landscape protection, water management, and the guidelines for road construction (RVS) to ensure resource-efficient and technically flawless development. Applications can be submitted year-round without any deadline restrictions.
Investments and expenses for the construction, conversion, and maintenance of goods roads are eligible for funding. A prerequisite for granting the subsidy is the provision of the paths within the framework of a mountain bike route concept based on a state-standard agreement. Eligible applicants include natural persons, associations of persons (for example, according to the Goods and Cableway State Act, State Road Act, or Field Constitution Act), other legal entities, municipalities, and municipal associations. The written funding commitment refers to the declaration of obligation and sets any conditions. For submission, a fully completed funding application and a signed declaration of obligation must be provided. The processing and control of the appropriate use of funds are the responsibility of the Office of the Vorarlberg State Government, Department of Agriculture and Rural Areas.
