Description

The program for the promotion of youth and student newspapers in Lower Austria grants one-time, non-repayable subsidies to editorial teams that exclusively focus on youth-related content and do not primarily serve commercial purposes. The aim is to strengthen the media participation of children and adolescents and to support both creative and critical engagement within student and youth newspaper editorial teams. The entire region of Lower Austria is eligible for funding; applications can be submitted continuously, and both non-profit associations and organizations as well as privately organized or informal youth groups are eligible.

Expenses for printing costs, paper costs, and postage costs are funded. Essential requirements include proof of an editorial focus on youth topics, documented self-realization and non-commercialization of the project, as well as a sample issue, a detailed project description with cost estimates and a cost breakdown, and a written declaration of the planned print run. Additionally, formally organized groups must submit statutes approved by the association authority, while informal initiatives must provide a corresponding written statement, along with a signed funding declaration. The Lower Austrian State Government reviews the appropriate use of funds, ensuring sustainable and responsible implementation. This offer enables young media makers to realize their own journalistic formats and to strengthen the voice of youth in the regional media landscape.
