Description

The funding program "Support for Art and Culture in Hesse" assists cultural institutions, cultural initiatives, and cultural practitioners from various disciplines in the realization of innovative artistic and cultural projects. Grants are provided to support initiatives in diverse areas such as museums, theater, film, literature, cultural education, socio-culture, regional and international cultural promotion, and music. Both non-profit organizations and companies based in Hesse are eligible for funding. The initiative places particular emphasis on a transparent project description, a comprehensible budget calculation – including for voluntary activities – and requires the timely submission of complete application documents, which must be received at least 10 weeks before the project start date.

Within the framework of the program, a grant of up to €10,000 can be requested, with a funding rate of 50% currently granted. This enables applicants to close the financial gap in realizing their projects. In addition to fixed-amount financing, flat-rate material expenses amounting to 5% of eligible costs may also be considered – always in compliance with the specified funding conditions. The evaluation of applications is based on criteria such as the necessity of funding, completeness, and the cost-effectiveness of the cost and financing plan. This ensures that only projects with a commendable state interest are shortlisted.

The funding serves as an impetus for cultural diversity and creativity in Hesse and supports projects across a wide spectrum of artistic disciplines. Through targeted investment in cultural infrastructure and innovative artistic creation, the Hessian Ministry of Science and Art promotes regional and international cooperation and enables a broad range of participants to access high-quality cultural resources. Interested applicants benefit from a structured funding procedure based on comprehensive documentation, precise project planning, and clear financial guidelines. Overall, the funding significantly contributes to strengthening Hesse’s cultural landscape and provides the pioneers of diverse projects with the necessary financial support to bring their visionary ideas to fruition.
