Funding of elite sports training facilities in Bavaria

The funding program of the Free State of Bavaria specifically supports the development and optimization of elite sports training facilities throughout Bavaria. Recognized federal, state, and Olympic training centers in youth elite sports are funded to ensure an efficient training center system. Grants cover capital expenditures for new construction, expansion, conversion, modernization, and renovation at 20%–50% of the eligible costs. Renovation and modernization measures take precedence over new construction projects, provided they preserve and improve the substance of existing facilities. Sponsors and associations submit their application to the locally responsible government authority after registering the measure with the State Ministry of the Interior, for Sport and Integration or a technically competent committee and obtaining recognition as a federal, state, or Olympic training center.

A prerequisite for funding is the free provision of the facilities for youth squad athletes and other authorized users in a condition suitable for elite sports. In the case of different sponsors, a formal usage agreement is also required. The expert committee assesses the sporting benefit of the measure for the state interest before the funding is approved. For the application, a detailed cost and financing plan as well as the application form Template 1a according to Art. 44 BayHO must be submitted. Through this funding, Bavaria sustainably strengthens its youth elite sports structure and offers young athletes modern training conditions at the highest level.
