Promotion of Literature and Written Works

Since 2010, the promotion of literature and written works in Tyrol has supported numerous literary initiatives through direct subsidies for printing costs, work and literature scholarships, as well as the funding of readings and other cultural events. Private individuals and companies based or residing in Tyrol may submit funding applications, provided they can demonstrate literary or publishing activities in accordance with the Tyrolean Cultural Promotion Act. The aim is to support authors and publishers in all phases of project development: from conception through printing to the execution of public readings. Institutions from the cultural and media sectors also receive financial support to sustainably strengthen Tyrol’s diverse literary scene.

Applications can be submitted on an ongoing basis and require the submission of an application, a detailed project description, as well as a transparent budget and financing plan. Processing is open-ended and flexible, allowing literary projects to commence at any time. Upon approval, proof of the earmarked use of funds is required, for example through income-expense statements or original invoices. This funding measure not only supports the publication of new works but also significantly contributes to making Tyrol’s literary offerings tangible locally and to networking authors and organizers across departments.
