Funding of Assisted Reproduction Measures

The funding program of the state of Saxony-Anhalt supports involuntarily childless married couples as well as couples in non-marital partnerships with a shared primary residence in Saxony-Anhalt in measures of assisted reproduction. Grants are provided for in vitro fertilization (IVF) and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) treatments, which can be utilized in addition to federal funding. The funding covers up to 50% of the remaining personal contribution after deducting benefits from statutory health insurance (GKV), private health insurance (PKV), and aid – a maximum of €800 for an IVF treatment and €900 for an ICSI treatment. Laboratory costs, anesthesia costs, and pharmacy costs are also funded within the scope of the first to third treatment cycles.

To apply, a grant application must be submitted to the Saxony-Anhalt State Administration Office before the start of the measure. The application must include an approved treatment and cost plan, the cost coverage declaration from the health insurance or aid, copies of identity cards or registration certificates, and – for non-marital couples – a medical certificate confirming the partnership. Applications can be submitted at any time as long as budget funds are available. Approval is granted in the order of receipt. After completion of the respective eligible cycle, invoices and receipts must be submitted as proof of appropriate use. This funding offer strengthens family planning in Saxony-Anhalt and significantly contributes to relieving couples in fulfilling their desire to have children.
