Funding is provided, among other things, for fisheries research, stocking measures, protection measures for fish species and waters, as well as training and further education opportunities for fishers. Additionally, public relations and youth promotion are eligible for funding. The grant rate amounts to up to 90% of eligible expenses; in cases of special state interest, even 100% financing is possible. For projects requiring approval, the necessary legal authorization must be demonstrated prior to application submission.
Only public law bodies, registered fisheries associations, fisheries clubs, and cooperatives in Saarland are eligible to apply. Public-law charges, land acquisition, as well as compensation and replacement measures are excluded. Applications must be submitted before the start of the planned measure and sent to the Ministry for Environment, Climate, Mobility, Agriculture and Consumer Protection. The aim of this funding is the sustainable strengthening of fisheries in Saarland: Through scientific investigations and professional stocking measures, water and fisheries protection shall be intensified, expertise among fishers sustainably expanded, and awareness among the public and youth promoted.
