Description

The funding program for municipal water supply in Burgenland is aimed at municipal territorial authorities as well as water law associations and cooperatives, offering non-repayable grants to sustainably ensure drinking water supply. As a contribution to environmental and nature conservation as well as energy efficiency and climate protection, it seeks to preserve surface and groundwater resources from contamination, provide hygienically flawless drinking water along regional pipeline networks, and supply utility and fire-fighting water. Funding is provided for construction and reinvestment projects in water supply, wastewater disposal, and sludge treatment facilities, as well as the establishment of digital pipeline information systems and participation in drinking water and wastewater benchmarking. Applications can be submitted continuously since the program came into effect in October 2013.

With a funding rate of 10%, expenses for planning and construction supervision, construction of operational buildings, connection lines, inter-municipal cooperation measures, as well as necessary preliminary services such as expert reports and variant studies are particularly considered. Non-eligible costs include interior installations, land acquisition, operational vehicles, in-house services, and administrative costs. A prerequisite for funding is compliance with the Water Rights Act as well as the guidelines of the State of Burgenland for municipal settlement water management 2017. The application must include the documents required according to these guidelines. The continuous, unlimited possibility to apply provides municipal entities with planning security for investments in climate- and resource-friendly water supply.
