Description
The program "Promotion of measures for climate-friendly and more environmentally friendly vehicles as well as sustainable mobility services in public local transport (Flexible Service Forms)" supports municipalities, public transport authorities, and transport companies in Lower Saxony in the acquisition and conversion of low-emission buses and trains. The goal is to increase environmental compatibility and maximize the emission reduction potential in public transport through flexible service forms and a modern charging and refueling infrastructure. Interested stakeholders can submit grant applications continuously and benefit from a funding mix that targets climate protection, infrastructure, smart cities, and digitalization across sectors. The state funding enables the realization of innovative service concepts and actively advances the mobility transition in public local transport.
In addition to the acquisition of climate-friendly vehicles, funding is provided for the conversion of existing fleets, the expansion of charging and refueling infrastructure, as well as accompanying planning and consulting costs. A prerequisite is proven operation in public local transport in Lower Saxony and compliance with technical and legal requirements. In project evaluation, emission reduction potential, proof of economic viability, degree of innovation of the service form, and a realistic implementation schedule play a central role. For the application, a detailed project description, a cost and financing plan, as well as technical specifications and proof of operating permits must be submitted. The Investment and Development Bank of Lower Saxony (NBank) supports applicants neutrally and competently and ensures transparent processing on behalf of the Lower Saxony Ministry of Economic Affairs, Transport, Construction, and Digitalization.
