Description

The funding supports the installation and expansion of newly installed photovoltaic systems on existing multi-story residential buildings in Vienna (from building class 3 or from 9 m height or ground floor plus at least two upper floors), which have at least three residential units and are at least 50% residential use. Eligible applicants are natural and legal persons who are owners or operators of these existing buildings. The grant aims to promote the generation of renewable energy and to reduce fossil electricity procurement costs. Applications can be submitted online throughout the year – prior to ordering, down payment, or start of construction – and the installation of the system must be completed within 24 months after the funding approval. It must be demonstrably proven that the photovoltaic systems achieve at least 800 full-load hours per year in grid-parallel operation. The funding agency reviews the application based on standardized calculations and sustainable environmental dimensions, including overall efficiency and the ratio of funding requirement in euros per kWp.

Eligible investment costs are funded at 30% of the total costs (minus the feed-in revenues achieved over five years at 3.5 ct/kWh) or a flat rate of €400/kWp up to 50 kWp, €300/kWp for 50–100 kWp, and €250/kWp above 100 kWp – whichever amount is lower. Eligible expenses include modules including mounting frames, installation, piping, control and regulation devices, metering equipment, fall protection, as well as planning, consulting services, and expert reports. Not eligible for funding are, for example, electricity storage systems, new meter boxes, construction and permit fees, own labor, used modules, displays, or roof coverings. The funding application must be accompanied by a quote from a specialist company, the projected annual yield, a building plan or energy certificate, photographic evidence or completion notice of the existing building, as well as a photo ID or ID Austria authentication.
