Description

The funding of projects in educational and informational work in development policy is aimed at nonprofit association structures registered in the Berlin association register, as well as recognized religious and ideological communities based in Berlin. Under the professional direction of the Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Enterprises and administrative support by the North-South Bridges Foundation, development policy initiatives are supported as a one-time grant with a funding rate of up to 90%. Educational, informational, and public relations projects implemented in the state of Berlin, as well as measures in countries of the Global South within the framework of established city or school partnerships, are thematically supported in accordance with the development policy guidelines of the state of Berlin for the 2030 Agenda. The funding rounds for project proposals take place on June 30 and November 30 each year; small grants up to €4,000 can be applied for on February 20, April 20, June 20, August 20, and October 20.

Personnel and material costs, travel expenses, accommodation and meals, fees, as well as administrative costs up to 10% of project expenditures are eligible for funding. Investments in real estate, debt repayment, valorized services, and voluntary insurance contributions are not eligible. Selection is based on criteria such as development policy relevance to Berlin, own and third-party funding participation, cost-effectiveness, quality of impact indicators, and sustainability of results. The application must include, among other documents, the completed application form, an expenditure and income plan, a well-founded project description, where applicable a child protection policy, as well as evidence for the transparency database, statutes, association register excerpt, and tax exemption certificate. This deliberately designed funding provides nonprofit organizations with a solid foundation to effectively implement development policy educational and public relations work in Berlin and the Global South.
