Funding of projects in the sports sector

The state of Saxony-Anhalt supports non-profit sports organizations in the implementation of sports projects outside of regular training and competition operations with a non-repayable grant. Up to 60% of the eligible expenses can be covered. Funding is provided in particular for measures to strengthen voluntary activities in children’s and youth sports, to improve offerings in recreational and competitive sports, as well as in health, disability, and rehabilitation sports. The range is complemented by projects promoting girls and women in sports, target group-specific initiatives such as the inclusion of people with disabilities and the integration of people with a migration background, as well as measures for violence and drug prevention. Special sporting events complete the funding portfolio and contribute to the preservation of sporting traditions. Applications must be submitted by September 30 for the following year; the recommendation of the Saxony-Anhalt State Sports Association must be available by August 31.

Eligible for funding are legally capable and recognized non-profit sports organizations in accordance with § 3 of the Sports Promotion Act. A prerequisite is secured overall financing of the project, of which at least 10% must come from own funds. Eligible costs include project-related personnel expenses as well as material costs such as office supplies, work materials, referee and entry fees, official permits for competitions, trophies, certificates and medals, as well as fees for speakers and travel expenses. The grant is provided as partial financing and may, upon special justification and approval by the funding body, exceed the regular maximum rate.
