Description
The state of Lower Saxony supports non-profit organizations in implementing initiatives for inclusion, participation, and raising awareness of the concerns of people with disabilities. Projects are funded with up to an 80% funding rate (maximum €50,000) for personnel, material, and capital expenditures, such as barrier-free (re)construction measures or technical equipment. Within the thematic framework "Social Affairs, Work & Social," the funding aims to dismantle barriers and improve access to cultural, leisure, and sports offerings. Key evaluation criteria include the development of an inclusive social space, awareness-raising for the rights of people with disabilities, strengthening participation opportunities, and the active involvement of people with and without disabilities. Applications can be submitted until October 1 of each year, and the guideline is valid until December 31, 2030.
Additionally, the funding call "Toilet for All" is specifically aimed at non-profit associations, federations, and foundations in Lower Saxony that wish to equip rooms with a height-adjustable care bed, a patient lift, and an airtight diaper bin. For this tailored additional funding, a fixed grant of €7,500 is granted. The prerequisite is a barrier-free equipped room of at least 7 m² including a toilet and washbasin according to DIN standards, in which people with severe or multiple disabilities can be safely cared for. Implementation is to be completed by December 31, 2026. This measure sustainably strengthens the participation of people in particularly care-intensive life situations in public spaces and promotes equal participation in social life.
