Description
The state of Burgenland supports Burgenland municipalities in the construction, expansion, and maintenance of safe and attractive everyday cycling routes. Within the framework of the "Master Plan Cycling – Burgenland cycles," the goal is to double the number of daily trips made by bicycle. As an open-ended grant measure, public institutions can submit applications at any time – since December 27, 2019. Funding is provided as a non-repayable grant with a funding rate: 50%, covering investment costs, material and personnel expenses, as well as planning and consulting fees.
Municipal projects aimed at improving infrastructure in the areas of infrastructure and urban development are eligible for funding. A written application from the Burgenland municipality, including a site plan, project description, and realistic cost estimate, is required. Expenses for services incurred before the application submission, winter maintenance, and the basic provision of land are not eligible for funding. Payment is made upon submission of paid original invoices, which must be presented to the State Building Directorate for review. Due to the long-term open submission deadline and the clear funding structure, this program offers municipalities the opportunity to significantly strengthen everyday bicycle traffic and sustainably improve the quality of life in both urban and rural areas.
