Description

Funding of Social Psychiatric Services (VwV-SpDi) represents a significant initiative in the state of Baden-Württemberg aimed at expanding outpatient care for mentally ill and psychologically impaired individuals across the region. This funding is directed at cities and districts that, within the framework of a cooperative alliance, organize low-threshold support services such as outreach prevention, aftercare, and crisis intervention. Through the deployment of qualified professionals in social work, social pedagogy, and related disciplines, comprehensive support within the outpatient care network is ensured, enabling affected individuals to receive timely and needs-based relief.

The funding is provided in the form of a grant based on a fixed-amount financing model. Individual grants of €27,000 are awarded per 50,000 inhabitants, providing a transparent and comprehensible calculation basis for regional funding. Only ongoing personnel and material expenses are supported, while investments in the construction or maintenance of physical facilities are excluded from funding. The requirement that the social psychiatric service be integrated into a higher-level community psychiatric network emphasizes the importance of cross-sector networking and cooperation among various providers, such as non-profit welfare organizations or public institutions.

The funding mechanism sets clear conditions and deadlines: initial applications must be submitted by October 15 prior to the start of the planned funding year, while follow-up applications must be submitted no later than February 28 of the same year. Furthermore, it is expected that the funded services provide comprehensive care as well as the possibility to facilitate further assistance, thereby minimizing the need for inpatient measures. This targeted structuring and close coordination between municipal actors and the providers of social psychiatric services ensure that support reaches those who urgently need it. Overall, the program contributes to sustainably improving the quality of life for affected individuals and continuously advancing the care situation in Baden-Württemberg.
