Description
The program supports the installation of control and interface devices that enable a photovoltaic system installed on an existing building with a nominal capacity of at least 4 kWp to directly control the operation of a new or existing heat pump. The goal is to provide the required electricity comprehensively from renewable sources, thereby increasing energy efficiency and advancing North Rhine-Westphalia’s climate protection objectives. All necessary hardware components are eligible for funding – from inverter interfaces and retrofit modules on the heat pump to cables, mounting materials, and integration into existing home control systems. The co-financing covers 40% of eligible expenses, up to a maximum of €750 per building and location. A prerequisite is that one of the two systems has been in operation for at least one year, the other is newly installed, the heat pump carries the SG-Ready label, and the annual performance factor meets the current BAFA minimum requirements. Applications can be submitted until June 30, 2027.
Eligible applicants include private individuals, condominium owners’ associations, freelancers, companies of all sizes, municipal authorities, public law corporations and institutions, as well as non-profit organizations and cooperatives. Applications must be submitted exclusively electronically via the application portal of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia; required documents include, among others, a cost estimate, a declaration by the entrepreneur, a declaration regarding companies in difficulty, and a treasurer’s declaration. The application period begins on May 20, 2025, and ends at the close of June 30, 2027. Upon positive review, the grant award notice will be issued, after which the commissioned work can be carried out and the proof of use submitted via the online form. Payment of the grant will only be made after verification of the proof.
