Description
The Ilse and Dr. Horst Rusch Foundation supports innovative theater and music projects with annual individual grants of up to €7,500 that contribute to sustainably deepening the cultural relations between Hamburg and Berlin. Eligible applicants include private individuals, non-profit organizations, start-ups, associations, and educational institutions. A particular focus is placed on supporting young artists who bring fresh impulses to both metropolises through their productions, concert series, or interdisciplinary formats. The foundation values creative concepts that both reflect the diversity of the independent scene and open up new audience segments. Applications can be submitted year-round; it is recommended to apply ideally three months before the project start.
For the application, a detailed project description including an artistic CV, a meaningful financial plan with income and expenditure projections, as well as short biographies of all participants are required. Additionally, already acquired or applied-for funding from other sponsors should be indicated. Evaluation criteria include, besides the artistic quality and relevance of the concept, particularly the transparency of the financing plan and proof of the connection to Hamburg and/or Berlin. Upon a positive decision, the foundation’s board will send a grant certificate, whose conditions regarding the use of funds and documentation are binding. A final report with financial accounting, audience figures, and documentary photographic material must be submitted no later than four months after the project’s conclusion. In this way, the Rusch Foundation continuously promotes cultural exchange and artistic collaboration between the two metropolises.
