Description

Since January 1, 2014, the state of Carinthia has been supporting non-profit interest groups and associations as well as other non-profit organizations that humanely shelter escaped, abandoned, left-behind, or officially confiscated or seized animals. This continuous grant funding ensures that animal welfare-compliant accommodation and species-appropriate care during the sheltering period in accordance with § 30 of the Animal Protection Act are always guaranteed. Specifically funded are feed costs, veterinary services, as well as personnel and material expenses for the professional care of the animals. The objectives of the funding include not only animal welfare-compliant accommodation but also ensuring professionally sound care and timely veterinary treatment. Thus, this funding instrument makes a significant contribution to regional climate and animal protection in Carinthia.

A prerequisite for granting the subsidy is proven suitability for animal welfare-compliant keeping in accordance with § 30 TSchG and the conclusion of a two-year service agreement with the state of Carinthia. Projects can be submitted for a duration of up to 24 months. Applications are possible at any time and are accepted indefinitely. Eligible expenses include feed, veterinary treatments, and care costs. Accounting is based on actual expenses incurred, with an annual report on financial management and activities to be submitted by March 31 of the following year at the latest. This offer is aimed at all associations and organizations in Carinthia that operate responsible and sustainable animal sheltering in compliance with the strict requirements of the Animal Protection Act.
