Description
The promotion of hiking, pedestrian, and equestrian trails in Upper Austria is aimed at public institutions active in the fields of infrastructure, regional development, urban planning, as well as agriculture and rural development. From January 1, 2025, funding in the form of grants will be available indefinitely until the allocated budget is exhausted. The measure aims to create new paths, maintain existing trails, and optimize trail conditions. This will sustainably enhance safety, quality, and tourist appeal. In particular, barrier-free sections and environmentally friendly construction methods are to be promoted to create attractive and nature-oriented routes for hikers, pedestrians, and riders.
Interested municipalities and other stakeholders may submit applications at any time, provided the planned measures comply with technical and legal requirements. Eligible costs must be calculated appropriately according to the specified criteria and demonstrated transparently. The processing is carried out by the Directorate of Road Construction and Transport of the Office of the Upper Austrian State Government. By focusing on targeted grants, sustainable development of regional infrastructure is ensured, strengthening both the local population and tourism. With this funding, the federal state contributes to the comfortable accessibility of rural areas and the enhancement of recreational offerings in Upper Austria.
