Description
Funding for hiking and rescue service organizations as well as youth hostels in Baden-Württemberg is aimed at non-profit associations, interest groups, and state associations active in the fields of sports and hiking. Recognized hiking associations such as the German Alpine Club, Black Forest Association, or Nature Friends, as well as state associations of rescue services (Workers' Samaritan Federation, Mountain Rescue Service, German Red Cross, Johanniter Accident Assistance, Malteser) and the state association of the German Youth Hostel Association, can receive grants covering 50% to 75% of the eligible project costs. Eligible measures include, among others, construction works (new construction, conversion, expansion) and repairs of hiking lodges, observation towers, and youth hostels, the establishment and maintenance of hiking trails, initial outfitting of hostels, as well as the procurement of equipment and training or further education of rescue personnel. Land acquisition, parking lot construction, consumables, vehicle rentals, or travel and meal expenses of volunteer helpers are not funded. The maximum project duration is 36 months, with the funding share ranging between half and three quarters of the necessary expenses.
Applications are submitted annually by March 1st through the responsible state association, which forwards the documents to the Karlsruhe Regional Council by June 30th. A prerequisite is membership in a eligible organization as well as proof that the planned measures are related to the sports and hiking sector. Required documents include the application form, a detailed cost and financing plan (from €150,000 according to DIN 276), a declaration regarding the start of construction and input tax deduction, as well as proof of own contributions. This funding aims to strengthen the independent forces of society and sustainably secure infrastructure projects for hikers and sports enthusiasts.
