Funding objective
The state of Carinthia aims to motivate Carinthian students to focus their scientific theses on the forward-looking topic of digitalization. Through the awarding of prizes, technology-driven questions are to be intensively discussed, competence development promoted, impulses for progress and innovation provided, and Carinthia’s positioning as a business, education, research, and technology location strengthened. Works with a sustainable development focus will be particularly honored.

Description
The state of Carinthia honors outstanding scientific theses with a focus on digitalization and sustainable development. Once a year, students with exemplary contributions that delve into technology-driven issues related to challenges such as demographic change, the energy transition, or regional competitiveness are awarded. The aim of the prize is to stimulate a more intensive discourse on digital future topics, to promote the professional competence of the authors, and to provide impulses for innovation. At the same time, the award helps to position Carinthia as a strong location for business, education, research, and technology and to particularly recognize the connection between digitalization and sustainable development.
Eligible for funding are Carinthian students who have written a scientific thesis on the topic of digitalization with a concrete sustainability reference as part of their studies. Evaluation is based on scientific quality, degree of innovation, relevance of the findings for Carinthia, and the extent of the sustainability reference. Applications must include a CV, a completed application form, the full thesis with an executive summary (maximum five pages), as well as reports and evaluation letters from supervisors. Submissions are accepted once a year according to the deadlines published on the official information pages of the state of Carinthia. By recognizing outstanding works, impulses for progress and forward-looking developments are to be strengthened.
