Description

Since 1982, the Rudolf and Helene Glaser Foundation has supported excellent scientific projects in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Schleswig-Holstein, with a special focus on cancer and infarction research as well as biosciences, natural sciences, and engineering. Funding is particularly provided to junior research groups and postdoctoral researchers conducting integrative programs in national parks and biosphere reserves along the German North and Baltic Sea coasts. As a continuous source of funding, the foundation offers grants to promote highly qualified early-career scientists in developing independent research concepts and strengthening early scientific independence. The foundation cooperates within the “Forschungsgeist!” program with partners such as the Bauer Foundation, the Karl-Heinz Frenzen Foundation, and the Stemmler Foundation, as well as in the postdoc program “BEN – Biodiversity-Ecology-Nature” with the Bauer-Hollmann Foundation.

Applicants must submit an independent research project in the fields of cancer/infarction research, biosciences, natural sciences, or engineering and demonstrate their qualification as doctoral candidates, postdoctoral researchers, or leaders of junior research groups. Additionally, the project must be anchored at a recognized research institution, and the thematic connection to integrative protected area programs or medical research must be clearly evident. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis; current calls and deadlines are available in the foundation’s download section. Evaluation criteria include scientific quality and innovation, the professional qualifications of the applicants, relevance to cancer and infarction research or integrative biodiversity research, as well as feasibility and project planning. This funding offers a valuable opportunity to implement high-level research projects and contribute sustainably to strengthening natural and medical scientific innovation in coastal regions.
