Description
The funding to support landscape conservation initiatives in Upper Austria offers non-profit landscape conservation associations and NGOs an attractive opportunity to professionally preserve and manage ecologically valuable areas. The goal is to reduce the difficulties in maintaining areas that often remain unused due to their terrain morphology, small size, or difficult accessibility. Applications can be submitted continuously, with a funding rate of 100% of the verifiable net costs up to a maximum of €20,000. Depending on the size of the managed area, grants of €5,000 (0–20 ha), €15,000 (21–50 ha), or €20,000 (> 51 ha) are possible.
Eligible costs include, among others, the acquisition of agricultural tools and equipment, consumables, as well as service and repair costs, insurance within the scope of association activities, lease and path costs, expenses for land management (e.g., travel and subsistence costs up to €1,000 annually, surveying fees), and the proper disposal of cuttings. Land management itself, fencing materials, traffic safety costs, personnel costs, volunteer work, or items already covered by other programs are not eligible for funding. For the application, the form “General Nature Conservation Funding” (LWLD-N/E-16) must be submitted, including a description of the project, cost breakdown, invoice and payment proofs, and, if applicable, required official permits. Further information is provided by the funding guidelines and the Nature Conservation Department of the Office of the Upper Austrian State Government in Linz.
