Description
The funding program for radon prevention and remediation in Upper Austria supports environmentally and climate protection-oriented measures in residential construction as well as infrastructure planning. Funding is provided for radon measurements in ground-level living and sleeping areas nationwide, structural remediation when the remediation guideline value is exceeded, as well as preventive measures such as the installation of a radon drainage system in new buildings within designated radon risk areas. As a continuous grant program in the fields of environmental/nature conservation, residential construction & modernization, energy efficiency & climate protection, as well as infrastructure & urban development, the program aims to reduce health-hazardous radon concentrations and improve living quality.
Radon measurements can be funded for homeowners or apartment owners as well as tenants; structural remediation is funded for owners, and preventive measures in new buildings are funded for builders. The funding rate ranges from 20 % of the remediation costs up to a maximum of 2,000 euros, while the installation of the radon drainage system according to ÖNORM S 5280-2 is subsidized with a flat rate of 500 euros. A mandatory consultation with the responsible specialist department is required for remediation and new construction, as well as submission of a radon measurement or proof of a professionally installed drainage system. Applicants must submit a completed application form, building permit decision, building plan, measurement protocols, proof of execution, and invoices. Applications can be submitted at any time (valid from 01.01.2012), allowing for uncomplicated short-term radon prevention and remediation.
