Description
Since its founding, the Berliner Sparkasse Foundation has supported a wide range of charitable projects in Berlin that sustainably strengthen the common good and the cultural life of the city. With a broad spectrum of funding that includes areas such as culture, education, sports, environmental and nature conservation, as well as science, the foundation specifically promotes equal opportunities for children and young people and supports initiatives in other socially relevant fields. By providing grants, the foundation offers an important financial basis to realize innovative concepts and sustainable projects in Berlin. Monument preservation, public health care, as well as youth and elderly assistance also play a significant role. The funding concept reflects the long-standing commitment of Berliner Sparkasse, which, as an institutional sponsor, preserves and further develops cultural and social values in the capital.
Funding can only be applied for by non-profit and charitable organizations that demonstrably pursue a tax-privileged statutory purpose and implement their projects in Berlin. Various documents are required for the application – including a detailed cost and financing plan, a funding application, as well as documents such as the articles of association, an excerpt from the register, and the tax exemption notice from the tax office. The funds are intended as grants and serve to support projects that are in the public interest. Expenses such as ongoing personnel and administrative costs, travel and hospitality expenses, or printing costs are not eligible for funding. The two application deadlines, July 31, 2025, and November 30, 2025, offer organizations in Berlin the opportunity to timely seek financial support for their initiatives.
Within the framework of the Berliner Sparkasse Foundation’s funding initiative, sustainable development is the focus, contributing to the improvement of the quality of life in the capital. The foundation thus helps to bring cultural and educational institutions as well as projects in the social, sporting, and environmental sectors more into the spotlight. The supported measures strengthen urban infrastructure and social cohesion by enabling innovative solutions and participatory projects. The funding allows those responsible to make a tangible contribution to a future-proof city through their commitment. This targeted support creates a significant incentive that not only addresses current challenges but also lays the foundation for long-term developments in Berlin.
