Description
Funding for Soil Protection Measures supports interest groups, associations, public and private educational institutions, private individuals, as well as companies in Upper Austria in making the importance of the environmental medium soil visible and tangible. Priority is given to projects that implement awareness-raising measures on soil functions or conduct expert soil function assessments. Participating municipalities, technical offices, and qualified experts such as nature and landscape guides or forest educators thus have the opportunity to convey to broad segments of the population the central role of soils for quality of life, water balance, and climate regulation. Through targeted actions and accompanying informational materials, soil awareness is to be sustainably strengthened and integrated into municipal educational offerings.
Disbursement is made in the form of a grant, with applications able to be submitted continuously – unlimited since 01.01.2012. Requirements include timely submission before project commencement, the official application form of the State of Upper Austria, as well as a detailed description of the measure including a cost breakdown, implementation, and financing plan. Eligible expenses include costs for awareness-raising soil projects and soil function assessments. Not covered are hospitality costs, association board expenses, and generally usable equipment such as projectors or PCs. For processing, in addition to the application, a final accounting sheet, payment receipts, and sample copies (e.g., brochures, photos, or media contributions) must be submitted; school workshops also require information on the number of students or classes supervised. This continuous funding opportunity aims to permanently strengthen the understanding of soil science contexts in Upper Austria and sustainably promote practice-oriented environmental education.
