Description

The funding for measures in municipal water management – water supply in Upper Austria supports the construction, reinvestment, and digitization of municipal water infrastructure. Eligible for funding are the development and renovation of water intakes (wells, springs), reservoirs (elevated/underground tanks), distribution pipelines, and treatment plants, as well as the purchase of protected area land, the creation of digital pipeline cadastres, and drinking water supply concepts. The use of renewable energy for own consumption (e.g., photovoltaics, small hydropower) and associated planning and construction supervision services are also grant-eligible. Applicants eligible for funding include non-profit organizations, companies, private individuals, municipalities, water associations, water cooperatives, and alpine clubs, provided they construct connection lines to public supply networks exceeding 100 linear meters or implement individual facilities in extreme locations. The funding rate amounts to up to 30% of the invoiced costs, plus an additional 10% for measures related to climate adaptation, inter-municipal cooperation, or local stormwater management. Applications can be submitted continuously to the Office of the Upper Austrian State Government – Directorate for Environment and Water Management.

Prerequisites include a positive report from Kommunalkredit Public Consulting GmbH (unless drinking water concepts or protected area purchases are involved), compliance with federal and state guidelines on municipal water management, and submission of all required documents: application form, technical report, cost and performance accounting, water law permit, fee proof, digital pipeline cadastre, and Kommunalkredit report. Direct funding supports projects in the areas of infrastructure, energy efficiency & renewable energies, climate protection, digitization, and regional development. Through transparent application procedures and the wide range of eligible measures, a modern, robust, and climate-resilient water supply in rural and urban regions of Upper Austria is sustainably strengthened.
