Description
The "Funding for Environmental Projects" of the Municipal Department 22 – Environmental Protection (MA 22) of the City of Vienna has been supporting non-profit organizations since 2014 with projects and initiatives that demonstrably serve environmental, nature, or climate protection in Vienna. Eligible for funding are associations, legal entities, as well as non-profit partnerships and companies registered in the commercial register that fulfill a public interest and have a substantive, institutional, or geographical connection to the City of Vienna. The type of grant available is a subsidy of up to €250,000 per individual project; applications can be submitted online continuously until the funding volume is exhausted. Key evaluation criteria are public interest, connection to Vienna, and financial need. Non-eligible costs include representation expenses, voluntary social benefits, and fines.
Applications require a detailed income-expenditure statement as well as personally signed documents, including a criminal record extract, association statutes or partnership agreement, and current association or commercial register excerpt. Additionally, applicants must provide proof that no alternative financing is possible and that all requirements of the Vienna Anti-Discrimination Act are met. MA 22 reviews applications formally, substantively, and financially and submits them to decision-making bodies. Upon a positive decision, a written funding contract including funding guidelines follows, after which the payment is made cashless to the specified bank account. The goal is a sustainable strengthening of environmental projects that promote the common good and shape Vienna as a livable city for the future.
