Description

In Austria, a continuously available grant opportunity is offered, specifically dedicated to the protection, preservation, and research of listed historic buildings. Private individuals, public institutions, and non-profit organizations can apply for funding for projects that contribute to the safeguarding and monument-appropriate restoration of historic objects. In addition to traditional restoration and conservation work, scientific investigations and recognition contributions are also supported to create a genuine awareness of cultural heritage in the long term and to sustainably preserve its substance.

Eligible expenses include all costs related to the safeguarding and preservation of listed objects, including the preparation of professional renovation concepts. A prerequisite is proof of monument status according to the Monument Protection Act and the submission of a detailed project and cost plan. Original receipts must be submitted as supporting documents, and a balanced accounting system must be ensured. Applications can be submitted at any time to the Federal Ministry for Housing, Arts, Culture, Media and Sport, with the deadline for accounting being announced along with the funding approval. This support makes an important contribution to preserving architectural cultural values throughout Austria and making them accessible to a wide audience.
