Description
Funding in the field of Performing Arts supports professional (music) theater, performance, and dance productions as well as annual programs of associations and artist collectives in Upper Austria. Also included are the ongoing operations of small and medium-sized stages, seasonal theater projects, festivals, and year-round theater ventures. The grants are awarded subsidiarily to the total eligible costs and are aligned with the objectives of the Upper Austrian Cultural Guiding Principles as well as the regulations of the Upper Austrian Cultural Funding Act and the General Funding Guidelines of the State of Upper Austria. A decisive funding criterion is the primary presence of the project in Upper Austria in order to sustainably strengthen the cultural diversity and innovative capacity of the federal state.
Interested non-profit organizations and companies may submit applications throughout the year. A prerequisite is compliance with the general funding principles of the Department of Culture and the specific funding criteria for performing arts. For the application, a fully completed and legally binding signed funding form, a detailed project description, a cost calculation with a coherent financing plan, and – in the case of annual programs – the previous year’s financial statement must be submitted. Depending on the funding category, additional documents may be required. The funding body reviews compliance with legal requirements and evaluates the cultural significance of the project for Upper Austria. Upon positive notification, disbursement is made in installments; proof of use must be submitted within the deadline. The Department of Culture of the Upper Austrian State Government is available for consultation to ensure the process is transparent and comprehensible.
