Description
In Styria, the program “Funding in the Field of New Media” supports forward-looking projects with an innovative focus on digital technologies and multimedia concepts. The aim is to support development initiatives, event formats, and production processes that go beyond conventional forms of presentation and explore new narrative, interactive, or immersive solutions. Eligible applicants include public institutions, private individuals, companies, as well as non-profit organizations that can demonstrate a clear connection to the federal state of Styria. Funding covers both costs for conceptual preliminary work and technical implementation as well as expenses for event execution and the professional production of various new media formats. Typical eligible expenses include development, event, and production cost subsidies, for example for software development, interactive installations, or digital live communication. This funding generates diverse impulses for the regional media landscape and contributes to the sustainable strengthening of digital culture in Styria.
The grant is continuously available and requires timely submission of the complete application prior to project commencement. Conditions for approval include, in addition to regional anchoring, a detailed financing plan, a transparent cost breakdown, and an artistic curriculum vitae. The application form contains a comprehensive project description, cost breakdown, financing overview, and, if applicable, other legally relevant documents. The department responsible for review and processing is Department 9 Culture, Europe, Foreign Relations of the Office of the Styrian Provincial Government. After project completion, the proof of use is audited. Since 2013, this indefinitely valid funding line has provided actors and experts with flexible deadlines for the realization of demanding media projects in the region.
