Description
In Upper Austria, people with disabilities with a degree of disability of at least 50% can receive financial grants for disability-related additional expenses, social integration, and the alleviation of special emergencies. Funding is provided, among other things, for the disability-appropriate adaptation of passenger cars and living spaces, obtaining driving licenses, technical and electronic aids for the blind and visually impaired, orthopedic aids, communication aids for the deaf and hard of hearing, sign language interpreter costs, as well as the acquisition of guide dogs, wheelchair dogs, or partner dogs. A flat-rate travel allowance additionally compensates for expenses arising from limited mobility. Applications can be submitted at any time and should generally be made before the implementation of the measure or the purchase of the aid.
Requirements for funding include a valid disability pass (degree ≥ 50%), the necessity of the measure due to the disability, the non-responsibility of other cost bearers, reasonable costs, and a household net income below the specified limit. Applicants must submit a completed and signed application form, copies of the disability pass, proof of income, medical reports or findings, at least two cost estimates, decisions from other cost bearers, as well as original invoices and payment receipts. The allocation of funds is carried out according to the principles of thriftiness, economy, and appropriateness. Through this direct funding, participation is strengthened and the quality of life of people with disabilities is sustainably improved.
