Description
The funding program supports sustainable drinking water supply in Upper Austria through the construction, renovation, and proper closure of artesian well systems in scattered locations. Eligible for funding are private individuals, cooperatives, as well as public institutions operating within the framework of municipal drinking water supply concepts. The goal is to secure outdated systems according to the state of the art to ensure environmental and resource protection while simultaneously increasing energy efficiency. Applications can be submitted on an ongoing basis and must be filed prior to the commencement of the measure. Applicants must demonstrate that all work is planned and executed by authorized companies and that existing federal funding under the Environmental Promotion Act (UFG) has already been exhausted. The program funds projects in the fields of infrastructure, environmental and nature conservation, as well as climate protection and urban development with grants covering 75% to 100% of eligible expenses.
Costs for the construction of new artesian wells, the renovation of existing systems, and the closure of outdated wells are eligible for funding. Upon completion of the project, cost summaries, documentation of the executed work, and a water law inspection certificate must be provided. This funding targets municipalities and drinking water cooperatives as well as private well owners who wish to increase their supply security and actively contribute to climate protection. Implementation and processing are carried out by the Office of the Upper Austrian State Government, Directorate for Environment and Water Management.
