Funding Measures for the Promotion of Architecture and Building Culture

Funding measures for the promotion of architecture and building culture in Styria are aimed at associations and federations as well as public and educational institutions such as universities, schools, or chambers. The objective is to raise awareness of and implement the guidelines formulated in the Federal Building Culture Report at the state, regional, and municipal levels. Financial subsidies support projects that foster understanding of the built environment, convey both traditional and contemporary building culture, and provide impulses for sustainable urban and regional development. The funding initiative thematically covers culture, monument protection, media, infrastructure, and urban planning, thereby contributing to an integrative engagement with architectural quality, building-related living environments, and the responsible handling of built heritage. The continuous submission option ensures timely planning and execution of events, workshops, exhibitions, or publications that make innovative building culture projects visible and tangible.

Applications are submitted informally and require a project description as well as an implementation and financing plan. There are no fixed deadlines, so funding applications can be submitted throughout the year. Only projects that align with the objectives of the Federal Building Culture Report and realize these within the Styrian context are eligible for funding. The Department 16 Transport and State Building of the Office of the Styrian Provincial Government is responsible for reviewing and processing applications, accompanying the submission process, and conducting funding control based on original invoices and payment receipts. Support is provided as a direct grant without application fees, enabling stakeholders from the cultural, media, and construction sectors to access financial support easily and make a sustainable contribution to the promotion of building culture in Styria.
